So, the new year has started. I have 9 goals to accomplish and a massive eco-footprint to cut. If you need a little refresher on my goals:
- Become a more conscious consumer
- Recycle all paper
- Cut water usage -accomplished
- Cut electricity usage
- Adopt a 100 mile diet
- Cut gas usage
- Grow 20% of what we eat
- Change dad's paper towel/energy usage
- CFL's
- Cut trash volume in half
We've got the CFL's, just need to install them. Cutting electricity means turning off the lights or not using them. A used clothing store 4 miles away from my house sells organic cotton clothing.
If I have all of these opportunities to do environmental good, why is it so hard?
Any answers?
That's great but what will happen when all the CFL's go into the landfill (most do not know how to dispose of) or break and the mercury ends up in our soil and water. Have you let your readers know the HAZMAT procedure if a CFL breaks? Proper disposal? Can you do some research on the toxins going in the soil/water from the CFLs in garbage? What will they do to our bodies/minds/food production?
ReplyDeletei think what makes it so hard is not what is around us but what is in us. our habits, beliefs...we have to change to a different 'normal'.
ReplyDeletemay i ask what cfl stands for?
have a green start!:o)
